Doug is a founding partner of the firm. He is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal and formerly a commissioned officer in the Royal Canadian Hussars. He obtained his law degree from the University of Ottawa and was called to the bar in 1994. He has practiced in the areas of child protection and immigration but currently restricts his practice to criminal defence cases. He is a past president of the local association of Ottawa criminal defence lawyers with a decade of experience on that association’s executive. Doug is also a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association and the County of Carleton Law Association. He has participated in important government initiatives to modernize and improve our court system and has considerable experience planning and delivering continuing legal education seminars. He is a frequent media commentator on criminal law issues appearing regularly in print, on radio and television. Doug appears in provincial offences court, before tribunals such as the Ontario Review Board and the criminal courts on all offences ranging from youth matters, to narcotics offences, to murder.
