Jason obtained his law degree from Queen's University. He has been a criminal defence lawyer in Ottawa and its surrounding areas since being called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. Jason has tried many cases in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, before both judge and jury. Jason represents clients charged with any and all criminal offences, including drinking and driving charges, drug charges, domestic assault, murder, homicide, sexual offences, theft, fraud, etc. He has also represented clients in very complex and lengthy proceedings such as Dangerous and Long Term Offender hearings, and has done appellate work at the Ontario Court of Appeal in Toronto. Jason has written for legal publications such as The Lawyers Weekly newspaper, has been a speaker at legal education seminars, and a contributing writer for legal education publications. In the fall of 2013, Jason hosted the show "Ottawa Experts: Criminal Justice Edition" on Rogers TV, cable 22
Jason also practices child protection law. He represents parents whose children have been apprehended by the Children’s Aid Society (C.A.S.), or other child welfare agency, with the kind of personal attention and understanding that is required of a lawyer practicing in this area.
Jason has lived and worked in Ottawa since 2000. He did his undergraduate degree at Concordia University in Montreal, and majored in journalism and political science. Jason credits his journalism background with helping him to hone his investigative techniques, and with contributing significantly to his skills as an effective cross-examiner and interviewer.
